Al-Sharaa leaves for Washington
Syria-Israel-USA, Politics, 1/3/2000

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa and members of the accompanying delegation left for Washington on Sunday to take part in the second round of the Syrian-Israeli talks due to start today.

The first round of talks will be attended by US President Bill Clinton, US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and the US team to take part in the peace process.

The delegation accompanying al-Sharaa includes several senior advisors, technicians and specialists.

In press statements he made during his visit to Cairo last Thursday, al-Sharaa asserted this second round of talks between Syria and Israel will be decisive and will disclose the real intentions and the seriousness of the Israeli side towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
